Kiwane Garris | CEO/President | [email protected]

Raised on Chicago’s west side, Kiwane is a 1993 graduate of Westinghouse High School. After a stellar high school basketball career, he took his skills to the University of Illinois’ Fighting Illini. By the time Kiwane left theIllini, he stood second only to Deon Thomason on the team’s all-time scoring list. After his standout collegiateperformance, he logged time with the LA Clippers, Denver Nuggets, Sacramento Kings, and Orlando Magic. Hethen moved on to a 12-year professional career in Europe. He won a bronze medal playing for the US NationalTeam in the 1998 FIBA World Championship. Kiwane has appeared in the reality shows RnB DIvas and Marriage Bootcamp with his wife, singer/songwriter, and fellow Chicagoan, Syleena Johnson. They have three sons, Kai, Kiwane, Jr., and Kingston. Kiwane is currently working at Gwinnett County Public Schools (Georgia) as varsity boys assistant coach and teacher.

Charles Tabb, Jr. | VP/Director of Operations | [email protected]

Charles attended Kiswaukee College in Malta, Illinois. He works for Chicago Public Schools and his duties are working as a paraprofessional in the Special Ed. department and Assistant Athletic Director for the Sports programs. As the Director of Future Superstars; his skills include mentoring youth, managing budgets, facilitating sports camps, coordinating tournaments, building relationships with alumni, athletes, and parents. Charles works well as a team player, and believes in communicating with administration, colleagues, children, and parents in and around our programs. Aside from his professional career, Charles’ other accomplishments include being a foster parent for 12 years; volunteering as a Big Brother at the Boys & Girls Club, and becoming a mentor for the Men of Austin Mentor Program in Chicago.

Albert Sharp | Director of Camps/Educational Programs | [email protected]

During the last 15 years, Albert has motivated and inspired youth throughout “trouble areas” inside Chicago’s city boundaries. As a prevention/recreational specialist, Albert has worked closely with Juvenile Court, Board of Education, homeless youth and many differentgangs. His dedication to at-risk youth has been recognized with numerous awards, including Anheuser-Busch’s Unsung Hero Man of the Year Award; Austin YMCA Man of the Year Award; Chicago Public Schools’ Benevolent Award; Youth Guidance Motivational Speaker ofthe Year. In short, Albert Sharp develops relationships with ignored and feared youth who need help to overcome the negative influence ofstreet life.


Syleena Johnson | Director of Nutrition

Syleena earned a Bachelor’s degree, summa cum laude, in Nutrition Science from Drake University. With a passionfor nutrition and fitness, Syleena created, a website with practical tools to help women achieve better lives through diet, exercise, and a wellness mindset. She authored The Weight Is Over, a book (and blog)about her own journey of physical and lifestyle transformation. Syleena is also a Grammy-nominated R&B singer/songwriter who has worked with artists such as Kanye West and Common.

Erika Guest | Director of Marketing | [email protected]

Erika graduated from the University of Illinois with a BS in Business Administration and Marketing. Over the past few years, she has enjoyed a successful sales career both as owner of a medical consulting company and as a real estate entrepreneur. During her free time, Erika enjoys each phase of her children’s lives, volunteering for the Future Superstars organization, the Ogden Avenue PTC as the VP of Fundraising, and the Rotary Club. Erika enjoys running, snow skiing, and traveling.
