One of the biggest hurdles I’ve faced in training young athletes is the misconception that if parents bring them to me for a month prior to their recreation basketball season or tryout, they will become a great basketball player.
This is not the case.
In any sport, superstardom is not immediate, and being great requires a lot of hard work and practice. It is ideal young players train during the summer months, practicing four times a week on average. During the school year, practice schedules may be reduced to twice a week to accommodate school obligations. The fall and winter seasons should be used to advance the child’s athletic development through repetition and reinforcement of skills acquired during the summer months.
We strongly encourage you to invest in the interests of your child. History has shown the success of many of the best athletes in the world is tied to their parents investing time, money and effort into their future.
